Commonwealth of Kentucky’s historical marker on the site of St. Vincent’s Academy, Highway 60, Union County, Kentucky. St. Vincent’s was a well-respected girls’ school, educating young women from Northern and Southern families. Female students were taught reading, writing, arithmetic, sewing, and social etiquette, additionally included in the curriculum were languages, classical literature and music. St. Vincent’s Academy was considered one of the finest schools in the country at that time.
